'Traffic Communication App' Launched for Safe Journey

February 11: In a bid to help reduce road accidents and ensure safe and comfortable travel, the Traffic Police Office has brought into operation the 'Traffic Communications App' in Province 2 from Sunday, February 10.

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the smartphone application informs whether the driver(s) have been changed in the long-route commuter vehicles or not.

Hari Bahadur Pal, Province-2 Police Chief and Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, inaugurated the app amid a programme at the District Police Office in Shambhunath Municipality of Saptari district, reported RSS.

DIG Pal said that the road accidents are recurring due to the operation of long-route vehicles relying on a single driver. "From now onward, the long-route vehicles should arrange two drivers," RSS quoted DIG Pal as saying.

The app has been developed to find out whether or not two drivers are arranged in the long-route vehicles, he said, adding that it would help book the vehicles breaching the rule.
