February 11: Nepalgunj-based Soaltee Westend Premier, which is in operation since a year, has gained the status of a five-star hotel.
The hotel is considered as Nepal’s first green hotel for adopting environment-friendly technology.
The Department of Tourism recently certified the hotel as a five-star hotel for its contribution in waste management and energy efficiency for its low power consumption.
The hotel became eligible for the five-star status with the existing infrastructure after the government amended the criteria for hotels outside Kathmandu to obtain such status.
The hotel’s Managing Director Indra Khadka informed New Business Age that the department gave them the certificate of a five-star hotel after examining the infrastructure.
