Electronic Cargo Tracking System Comes into Operation

February 15: The Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) for goods being supplied from Kolkata’s sea port to Nepal by rail has come into operation from Friday (February 15), according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).

Deputy Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust, Balji Arun Kumar, confirmed that the electronic cargo tracking for Nepal-bound containers has started. According to Kumar, both the time and money of the suppliers would be saved with the inception of the ECTS.

He added that it would reduce the procedural hassles and end the agents' cost to be incurred in the port.
