Govt Invites Investors from 40 Nations for the Investment Summit

March 28: The government has invited investors from 40 different countries for the Nepal Investment Summit to fund 77 projects.

Minister for Finance Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada informed during a press meet on Wednesday, March 27, that the government has invited investors from 40 nations to attend the summit scheduled for March 29 and 30.

According to the finance minister, 77 projects including 50 prepared by the government and twenty-seven private-owned projects will be presented at the investment summit.

He further informed that more than 600 investors along with high-ranking officials from 40 countries will attend the summit.

Myanmar’s Minister for Investment and Foreign Economy Relation, U Thaung Tun; Vice President of the World Bank, Heart Wig Saphar; Vice President of Asian Development Bank, Shinxin Chen along with other high ranking officials are attending the investment summit scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on March 29.   

Similarly, Hans Peter Lankes, IFC’s vice president for Economics and Private Sector Development; Hang Lee of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank along with the top ranking officials of renowned companies including Amazon, Microsoft, Power China, China Railway, and Unilever will attend the summit, added Minister Khatiwada.

According to the Investment Board, 265 Chinese investors, 120 Indian investors, 21 Japanese investors, 19 other investors will attend the investment summit.
