April 11: Nepal Mountain Academy is all set to introduce Master of Adventure Tourism Studies (MATS), a first-of-its-kind course in the world, from the upcoming academic session. According to the academy, which runs under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, it is starting the post-graduate course in affiliation to Tribhuvan University. The academy informed that the course aims to generate skilled and professional manpower in the tourism sector. 

Lakpa Phuti Sherpa, president of the academy, informed NBA that the course has been approved and all the preparations have already been made for running the classes.

“Nepal is recognised as a mountaineering and adventure tourism destination worldwide. But, we were only generating manpower in the tourism sector,” she said, adding, “Now, we are generating manpower in this sector as well.”

Moreover, the academy is preparing to record their name in the Guniess Book of World Records.
