Unsettled Amount Crosses Rs 100 Billion Mark: OAG

April 14: The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has found that 4841 local units under the federal governments have not yet settled Rs 106.34 billion.  The OAG made such revelation in its 56th annual report made public on Friday, April 12. Before publishing the report, the OAG submitted the 1800-page report with 1200 recommendation to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma said that the report shows there are irregularities at the local levels, which have failed to produce documents of expenditure.

According to him, most of the unsettled amounts include advance given by the local units.

Unsettled accounts do not necessarily indicate corruption. However, not settling the budget is considered as carelessness on part of the concerned authorities.
