Senior Journalist Shrestha Passes Away

April 18: Senior journalist Pushkar Lal Shrestha, the chairman of Kamana Publication and editor-in-chief of Nepal Samachar Patra, passed away on Wednesday, April 17. He was 60.

Shrestha breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Thapathali.  Shrestha was admitted to Vayoda Hospitals and Blue Cross Hospital for the surgery of his nose and kidney stone some five and a half months ago. His health condition got worsened after the second surgery.

After being diagnosed of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), doctors had referred him to Medanta Hospital in Haryana, India. After about two months of treatment, he was brought back home. Later, he underwent additional treatments at Norvic.

Despite regular treatment, his health condition got complicated due to which he was admitted to Nepal Mediciti Hospital where he was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit since a month. He again taken to Norvic as per the advice of doctors involved in his treatment.

 Shrestha’s body was cremated by his eldest son Direk Lal Shrestha at Pashupati Aryaghat the same day. His body was kept at New-road based Bhugol Park for the whole day for last respects.
