Standard Chartered Bank supports Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology

April 25: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal handed over Rs 2.46 million to Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) under its “Seeing is Believing” Phase V program.

Issuing a statement, the bank said that the funding is part of a financial grant of USD 1.0 million agreed earlier by the bank for funding a major expansion project by TIO.

According to the bank, the objective of this project is to upgrade facilities at district community eye centres in Bhaktapur and Nuwakot with the aim to reduce avoidable blindness by developing surgical facilities in rural and semi-urban areas.

Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Nepal, handed over the cheque to CEO of TIO Dr Rita Gurung amid a function held on April 24.

On the occasion, CEO Dastidar stated that Standard Chartered is honoured to be associated with the noble cause of Tilganga, a world class facility for dealing with avoidable blindness.

The bank said it had earlier extended financial support of USD 1 million to the Biratnagar Eye Hospital (EREC-P) under its “Seeing is Believing” Phase IV program.
