June 6: NMB Bank conducted a series of programmes across the country to mark the World Environment Day on Wednesday, June 5

The bank said in a statement that it inaugurated a 50K grid solar rooftop system with net metering at its head office. The system is expected to cover 70 percent of electricity consumption at the bank’s head office. The system was jointly inaugurated by the bank’s CEO Sunil KC and Madhusudan Adhikari, executive director of Alternative Energy Promotion Center.

Likewise, the bank launched a new scheme for financing of bicycles on EMI basis through NMB VISA cards. The objective of the scheme is to encourage people to opt for bicycles as a mode of transport so as to help reduce carbon footprints and safeguard the environment, the statement added.

The bank also undertook plantation of 100 saplings in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu. Tree plantations were actively organized in branches across the country in association with local bodies.

‘“Our efforts will not remain limited to just one day, we will continue our environment drive hereafter too,” reads the statement issued by the bank.
