June 14: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed graft cases against 28 individuals including the then chiefs of the land revenue offices of Banke and Bardiya for transferring government lands to private ownership.
The anti-graft body on Thursday filed corruption cases at the Special Court against the then chiefs of the land revenue offices Dirgha Raj Pokharel, Pushpa Shrestha, Hemraj Sharma and Ashok Kumar Bhattarai as well as non-gazetted officers Rudra Devkota, Tanka Prasad Sharma, Ram Bahadur Khadka and Man Bahadur KC. They have been fined Rs 20 million each.
Likewise, computer operator Yageshwar Wali, assistant computer operator Prem Bahadur Chand and other staffers Sushil Rijal, Sanjay Kumar Thakur, Kulananda Raut, and office helper Surya Prasad Upadhyay have also been charged in the graft case. Other individuals facing corruption charge for the same offence include Khairul Hasan Ansari, Hasratun Nisha Ansari, Lali Malla, Brihaspati Khadka and Pappu Dhobi.
CIAA has accused the 28 of forging documents to transfer the ownership of various plots of lands belonging to the government to the ownership of Khairul Hasan Ansari.
