Dang Becoming a Cement Hub

Rs 41 Billion Invested in 7 Cement Industries

October 20: Dang is becoming a major cement production hub in the recent years. As the hill areas of the district host big limestone mines, cement industries are being established across Dang. The number of cement industries in the district has reached seven at present. Out of them, Ghorahi (Sagarmatha) Cement located at Gogli and Sonapur Cement located at Dudhara have already started their production. Meanwhile, other cement factories are under construction.

As per the details submitted to the Ministry of Industry, the investment in the cement industry of Dang has totaled Rs 41 billion. The investment comprises of minimum of Rs one billion to a maximum of Rs 10 billion. Ghorahi Cement Industry and Sonapur Cement Industry are producing cement since the last two years. Similarly, the production facility of Samrat Cement is under construction in Deukhuri. The company plans to start production within the next few months.

Similarly, Subha Shree Agni Cement which has its infrastructure in Argakhnachi is readying to bring its products to the market. However, Rolpa Cement Indsutry which has its production bases in Dang and Rolpa is unable to start production due to electricity problem. Meanwhile, Dang Cement Industry and Araniko Abukhaireni Cement Industry have still not come into operations.

The operating industries are increasing their capacity as well. Started with an investment of Rs four billion, Sonapur Cement has now increased its investment to Rs 10 billion. The industry which used to produce 800 sacks of cement per day has increased its capacity to 20,000 sacks daily. According to the company, it has doubled the production of clinker as well.

Similarly, started with an investment of Rs six billion, Ghorahi Cement has increased its investment and production capacity. According to Amar Subedi, Public Relation Officer of the company, the production capacity has been increased to 22,000 sacks per day from 7,000 sacks earlier.
