PM Dahal to Address World Future Energy Summit in UAE

Kathmandu, Jan. 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Energy Minister Janardan Sharma flew to Abu Dhabi, the  capital of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in "World Future Energy Summit, 2017" on Saturday.

The PM is scheduled to present a special address in the program. The program starting on Monday will run until Thursday, 19th January, 2017.

The summit is being organised with an objective of developing and expanding the renewable sources of energy.

The program being organised with a slogan "Sustaining the Clean Energy Consensus: Empowering New Players" will be participated in by 600 companies of 32 countries worldwide active in energy sector. Moreover, 125 Conference speakers related to energy sector will make their presentations in various 30 programs during the Summit.

The PM with a 10-member delegation is to participate in the summit at the special invitation of Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and PM of UAE.

On the occasion, the PM will be giving a key note speech on Monday, January 16 on policies being executed by Nepal in the energy development sector, future plans, investment and opportunities for cooperation in Nepal in the sector.

Similarly, Energy Minister Sharma will also be addressing in the Summit. "Hopefully, the summit being participated in by worldwide personas of energy sector will be fruitful for Nepal," said Dinesh Ghimire, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Energy.

 

"It will also be an opportunity to discuss the market and to seek potential investment for the development of energy sector of their respective countries," he said, adding that the sideline meetings are golden opportunities for this. During the Summit, Nepali representatives will also have an opportunity for a meeting with the Energy Minister of UAE.

The summit will be a part of the 10th anniversary of the 'Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week'. According to the organisers, the summit is dedicated to advancing the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean energy technology.
