Don't Stop Banking Investment in Heavy Equipment: FCAN

February 22: The representatives of Federation of Contractor's Association of Nepal (FCAN) have met the officials of Nepal Bankers Association (NBA) on February 21. In the meeting, FCAN members discussed the banking problems faced contractors and solutions of those problems with the bankers.

The federation showed its disappointment on the NRB decision regarding halting banking investment in luxurious goods. The federation opined that the decision has adverse effect on the construction industry as it will also halt banking investment for heavy equipments.  The federation has requested not to stop loan investment on heavy equipments as they are not luxury goods.

According to the federation, if the banks stop providing loans for heavy equipments, it will have adverse effect in capital expenditure and economic activities as a whole. The federation has requested the officials of NBA to make initiation for granting loan on heavy equipments.
