IRA’s Two Wine Products Launched

April 25: The Metrang Vineyard and Winery Pvt. Ltd has launched in the Nepali market two types of wines of ‘IRA’ brand made from plum and pear.

Dr. Toran Sharma, Chairman of the company launched both the products amid a program in Lalitpur on April 24.

Speaking at the program, Chairman Dr. Sharma said that farmers of Tistung and Palung villages of Makwanpur district are excited due to the establishment of the company.

According to him, the farmers were facing problems despite adequate production of fruits there and they were not getting reasonable price for it and fruits were rotting due to lack of market. “We established the wine industry in that area to enhance their lifestyle by consuming the fruits they produce”, he added.

Similarly, Arjun Pradhan, Managing Director of the company believes that Nepali customers will love the taste of wine made from the organic fruits. He shares, “It is not necessary that wine should be made from grapes only. We have set example that wine made from plum and pear can also be tasty.”

The company said the new products will have 10 percent alcohol and come in bottles of 750 ml at a price of Rs 500. The company informed that it has sent samples of this wine to Hong Kong and Singapore for its export.
