Government to Prioritise ongoing Projects

May 26: President Bidya Devi Bhandari presented the government's policies and programmes for the upcoming FY 2017/18 in the parliament on May 25.

Bhandari presented the policies and programmes as per the provision to present it before unveiling the budget in parliament. The policies and programmes is to give continuity to the ongoing plans and projects. The government is not including new programmes in view of the code of conduct of the second phase of local elections to be held on June 14.

However, necessary policies and programmes have been included with the implementation of federalism in the country. The policies and programmes has included among other things, speeding up reconstruction works, management of human resource needed in the local level as well resources and human resource needed in the provinces.

Similarly, the policies and programmes has also emphasized on increasing economic growth, encouraging agricultural and livestock insurance, continuing construction of irrigation projects, use of available technology in irrigation as well as making agricultural programmes effective.  

Likewise, the policies and programmes also aims to give continuity to the campaign of ending load shedding in Nepal with a view to making a ‘Bright Nepal’ by developing reservoir projects including the national pride Budhigandaki Hydro Power Project.

President Bhandari while presenting the policies and programmes said with the effective implementation of the 'Bright Nepal campaign', the country will be made self-reliant in electricity generation.
