August 7: Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Commerce and Consumer Rights will conduct a field visit to the lands bought by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). A meeting of the committee on August 6 has decided to send its team for inspection of the sites amid allegations of irregularities while purchasing the lands.

The committee will send its team to the sites within one week. The committee has appointed its coordinator Subash Chandra Shah Thakuri to look after the issue. The team will probe into irregularities of NOC while purchasing lands in Jhapa, Sarlahi, Bhairahawa and Chitwan.

The committee has pledged to find out the truth after a fair investigation. According to Thakuri, it is not possible to find out the actual happenings without field visit and it would be difficult to take any decision without proper investigation.

“We will prepare a report after finding out the truth. After we present the report, the main committee will further discuss on the issue and then recommend the concerned bodies to take necessary measures,” said Thakuri.
