October 10: The sales and distribution of Nepali brand bicycles have started in Nepalgunj for the first time. The distribution of bicycle brands, ‘Gorkha’ and ‘Bagwan’ has started in the market, according to M Bagwan, operator of Bagwan Cycle Suppliers.

Bagwan has been involved in the business of selling cycles in the name of Gorkha and Bagwan Cycle Suppliers Firm for more than two decades. “We had been selling bicycles of other brands till now,” Bagwan said, adding, “We have started selling our own brand now.”

The products are assembled in China.

The bicycles have been prepared in a way that they can be used in the plains, hills and the mountains, informed Bhagwan. “This is a mountain bike but can be ridden everywhere,” Bagwan told New Business Age, adding, “The price of the bikes starts from a minimum of Rs 10,000.”

He said the bicycles have been prepared with an aim to make the brand recognizable for its quality all over the country. Lately, bicycles that cost up to Rs 100,000 has been in the market. “People who own cars worth millions show interest in riding bicycles.”
