November 24: The private sector has urged the government to bring a policy which helps entrepreneurs to get over the fear of double or even triple taxation.

In a programme organised in Kathmandu on Thursday, former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Pashupati Murarka said that the government should exempt unnecessary tax it has been levying on the private sector to help them grow. The programme was jointly organised by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and FNCCI.

Murarka further added that the tax system in the country is very unclear. Similarly, Vice-President of FNCCI Chandra Prakash Dhakal said that the government should not levy more than 20 percent tax on the entrepreneurs.

Likewise, speaking at the program, Shova Kanta Poudel, head of the Revenue Management Division at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), said that the entrepreneurs are fearful regarding double taxation on house rent tax, but the government will address the issue by bringing a new policy.
