Samsung associates with Nepali movie ‘Kri’

February 15: Samsung Electronics, one of the biggest and most trusted smartphone brands in Nepal, has associated itself with the movie ‘Kri,’ directed by Surendra Poudel and starring Anmol KC and Aditi Budhathoki in the lead roles.

Samsung’s flagship smartphone, Galaxy S8+, features in the movie and can be seen being used by the movie protagonist Anmol KC, reads a statement issued by the company.

The latest act of Samsung placing the product in movies is an emerging trend in Nepal movies, though it has long been practised in Hollywood and Bolloywood, the company claimed.

The placement of mobile in the movie is also a pointer to increasing penetration of mobile phones in the Nepali society and its role in connecting people from various parts of the country.

Samsung said it has played a prominent part by bringing the international standard smart phones to Nepal. Looking at the current craze that Nepali movies have, Samsung said it believes this is a different and dynamic way to promote its products.

“Movies represent ethos and emotions of society, we are happy with the product placement in Nepali cinema. It gives us good avenues to connect with our customers. We are happy to get associated with the current heartthrob Anmol KC through KRI,” says Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, head of IM Biz, Samsung Nepal.
