Baraha Jewellers sponsors Everest expedition

February 18: Baraha Jewellers provided financial support to an Everest expedition team while its associate organization, Kripa Foundation, felicitated three renowned composers and singers amid a function on Friday, February 16.

During the function organized at Heritage Garden, Lalitpur, Baraha Jewellers provided Rs 500,000 as a goodwill gesture to the First Women Journalists Everest Expedition Team which is all set to conquer the world’s highest peak, Mt Everest, this April.

Meanwhile, Kripa Foundation, which is associated with the field of music, said it honored the veterans on the occasion of its first anniversary for their long-standing contribution to Nepali music.

Renowned singer Om Bikram Bista, who is currently undergoing treatment for kidney-related aliment, was awarded with the Kripa-Ratna Award by the organisers. Bista received Rs 51,000 as cash prize.

Likewise, poet and lyricist Ratna Shumsher Thapa and singer Yogeshwar Biadhya were conferred upon special honors during the function, the organisers said in a statement.

Kripa Foundation’s Chairman Shiva Lamichhane, who is also the proprietor of Baraha Jewellers, said that they provided the support to the journalists as part of their corporate social responsibility.

The mountaineering team includes Rojita Buddhacharya of Nepal Television, Rosha Basnet of RSS, Priya Laxmi Karki of News 24, Kalpana Maharjan of Megha Television and Deurali Chamling, a freelancer.
