May 9: Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor inaugurated the showroom of Marigold Jewelers, one of the oldest and well known jewelry shops of Nepal, at Durbar Marg on May 7. The proprietors of Marigold Jewelers expressed their belief that Kapoor's presence would be helpful for promoting and expanding its market in India as well.

Issuing a press statement, Marigold Jewelers said that the jewelry shop, which has been transferred to the fourth generation now, is known as the oldest jewelry shop of the nation. 

Having almost a hundred years of experience in making and selling jewelry, Marigold was first started from Indrachok by a Shrestha family. Then known as 'Tisa Dhuku', it was shifted to Makhan where it operated with its new name Marigold.

Marigold Jewelers said it has been preparing and selling Nepali traditional, foreign designed and fusion of Nepali and foreign designed jewelry.

Various gold, silver, diamond jewelry and various types of precious stones are available at the shop.

Pure and hand designed light gold jewelry are also designed and sold as per customers' need. Old designed jewelry are also turned into new designs, the statement said. 

On the occasion of the inauguration program, Jyotsna Shrestha, the owner of Marigold Jewelers explained that it is selling high quality jewelry and planning to take Nepali traditional jewelry to the international market. "We have expected that presence of Bollywood actress would enhance the market and promote Nepali traditional jewelry in Indian market," she said.

Marigold has been serving its customers from newly opened Durbar Marg showroom along with New Road showroom.
