May 22, The government has announced to open a bank account for every citizen by the coming fiscal year. President Bidya Devi Bhandari made this announcement while speaking about the policies and programs for the fiscal year 2018-19 at parliament on May 21.

The government's policies and programs are aimed at increasing transparency in financial sector of the country. The government is planning to conduct the entire financial transactions of governmental institutions, private and other organizations though banks to maintain transparency.

As stated in the program, the government will adopt a policy for proper utilization of remittance in the productive sector. The government also plans to transform the country’s economy to production-oriented economy rather than import and remittance-based economy.

The program and policy for fiscal year 2018/19 will aim to increase the productivity by forming a national strategy to boost the GDP.
