Kathmandu Mini Maker Faire in September 22-23

September 7: Nepal Communitere, an NGO which supports innovative ideas, is organizing the second edition of Kathmandu Mini Maker Faire (KMMF) on September 22-23. According to the organiser, the KMMF will bring together makers and innovators from Nepal and abroad, and will highlight the kind of innovation in Nepal.

The theme for KMMF 2018 is ‘design future’ which primarily focuses on health, education and environment but also welcomes all makers in different sectors.

“KMMF 2018 will look at how the maker movement in Nepal and around the world can contribute to the way we design our future homes, communities, cities and lives,” the organiser said in a statement.

The events and exhibits will include exhibitors, speakers, panel discussions, workshops on small, low-cost computers such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino, a virtual reality booth, drone flying, 3D printing workshops, and traditional crafting.

The organiser said KMMF will provide incubation grants of up to Rs 200,000 for each team of the makers showing innovative approaches to health, education and environment challenges. KMMF will encourage novel application of technologies, explore cross sector intersections between traditionally functioning domains.

The statement further said that Nepal Communitere is orgsanising the event in partnership with Rural Development Initiative (RDI) and Global Innovation Gathering (GIG).
