Qatar Airways celebrates Kathmandu’s recognition

October 26: Qatar Airlines organised a celebration to mark Kathmandu’s inclusion as the fifth must-see city in the world by Lonely Planet. According to the airline company, the event was attended by the office bearers of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA) and the travel fraternity of Kathmandu.

Addressing the event, Qatar Airways’ Country Manager Jaya Prakash Nair praised the efforts of NTB, NATTA and the travel fraternity for this international recognition which would further increase the tourism prospects of the county and Nepal’s dream of getting 2 million tourists in the year of 2020.

Nepal’s world heritage sites, monuments, temples, religious importance, diversified activities, year-long fantastic weather, adventure tourism and scenic beauty are being noticed by the travelling public around the globe, noted Qatar Airways.

“Qatar Airways is very proud to play a pivotal role in bringing maximum number of upmarket tourists using its daily four flights conveniently linking Nepal to over 150 destinations predominantly Europe and USA,” reads a statement issued by the company

.As per NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi, this is the success of the joint efforts from the government, NTB, airlines as well as travel and tourism fraternity of Nepal.
