Nepal Police bags Digital Government Award in Japan

November 15: Japan-based Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) has awarded the prestigious ASOCIO 2018 Digital Government Award to Nepal Police for making the best use of information technology in its work.

According to a statement issued by Nepal Police, executive member of Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation), Dr Abhijeet Gupta, received the award from ASOCIO Chairperson David Wong amid a function held inTokyo on November 8. Gupta handed the award to IGP Sarvendra Khanal amid a function on Wednesday, November 14.

According to Nepal Police, the organization has been giving away awards in four genres, namely, the ASOCIO Outstanding Company, Outstanding User Organization, Digital Government and ICT Education.

ASOCIO was established in 1984 in Japan with the objective of strengthening mutual and trade relations among the member states through the promotion of ICT industries. More than 10 thousand organizations related to information technology from 24 countries of Asia and Oceania are affiliated to the organization.
