Domestic flights increasing

December 3: The number of flights in domestic aviation sector of the country has increased in the recent time. According to a report published by Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the number of domestic flights has come closer to 100,000 flights in an annual basis.

The domestic airlines and helicopter operators operated their aircraft 97,107 times in 2017 while they have already made 77,909 take offs during the first ten months of this year. The number is likely to increase further in the next two months of this year.

Increasing number of aircraft in the domestic aviation industry and registration of new airlines along with the increase in number of VVIP flights in the recent time has increased the number of flights.  

In 2014, 17 airline operators had operated their aircraft for 68,536 times and boarded 1,450,558 passengers.
