Sub-committee formed to probe NAC’s wide-body aircraft procurement

December 13: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the federal parliament has formed a seven-member sub-committee to investigate into the alleged irregularities during the procurement of the wide-body aircraft by Nepal Airlines Corporation. 

Bharat Kumar Shah, president of the Public Accounts Committee formed on Wednesday, December 12, shared that the sub-committee headed by parliamentarian Rajendra KC has been asked to look into the case and submit its report incorporating the factual accounts within a fortnight, reports the state-run Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS). 
“We will decide on further steps relating to the purchase of the wide-body aircraft after the sub-committee submits its report," RSS quoted President Shah as saying.

The members in the sub-committee are Prem Bahadur Ale, Meena Subba, Chanda Chaudhary, Krishna Lal Maharjan, Pradeep Yadav and Dharmashila Chapagain. 

According to RSS, the sub-committee has been mandated to prepare its report on the basis of the report of the Office of the Auditor General and Public Procurement Monitoring Office. 
The committee has already held discussions with the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari and NAC's high-ranking officials regarding the procurement of the wide-body aircraft as mentioned in the report. 

The Public Procurement Monitoring Office, upon the instruction of the committee, has already submitted its report concerning the matter.
