NTC's Microwave Radio Link Expands Across Upper Mustang

December 14: Nepal Telecom has expanded microwave radio link across upper Mustang.

The link, a wireless communication technology that uses high frequency beams of radio waves to provide high speed wireless connections, has replaced satellite technology, according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).

The service has started at Lo Manthang, Ghami, Charang, Surkhang, Chhusang, Samar and Syangboche by setting up GSM and BTS towers, the state-owned national news agency quoted senior engineer at the NTC branch office Keshab Sharma as saying.

"Following the implementation of the service, there has been significant improvement in the availability of mobile network as well as voice and data services provided by the NTC," he said.

“The service has also helped cut additional financial burden suffered by the NTC,” he added.
