December 30: The government is to renew labour permits for migrant workers from the province itself starting from December 30, according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS). Labour permits were being renewed only from the capital so far. 
The state-run news agency stated that the new provision is being made with the objective of facilitating services related to foreign employment.

Accordingly, the Labour and Employment Office in Province 2 and the same office in Province 5 will begin providing labour permits and other related services from Sunday, said the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. 
The offices will start by renewing labour permits and monitoring the training and orientation provided by the licensed institutions. Also, they will be providing information and handling grievances related to foreign employment, according to the ministry spokesperson Dr Narayan Regmi. 
Similar services will also begin from the remaining five provinces soon, as preparations for the same are in the final stage, RSS said. As a result, the compulsion for service seekers to travel to Kathmandu will come to an end. 
Around 1,000 youths reach the Labour Department in Kathmandu to acquire labour permit and re-permit.
