January 7: Sugarcane farmers of Mahakali Municipality in Kanchanpur have started getting relatively better price for their products in the Indian market than in the local market, according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).

According to the state-run news agency, sugarcane producers earn IRS 400 (Rs 640) for selling 1 kg of sugarcane in the Indian market while the same amount of sugarcane fetches only Rs 400 in the local market.

“Farmers of Dodhara and Chandani sell sugarcane in India as they get better price price across the border,”RSS quoted Puran Bahadur Chadaro, a local sugarcane entrepreneur, as saying.
