Government Effortful to Protect Domestic Drug Industries

January 7: The government has decided to give special attention to protect the domestic industry of medicine.

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav on January 6 decided to form a committee to monitor, determine the prices of medicines and for effective management of medicines produced in Nepal.

The state-run news agency said that the meeting also held discussions on enhancing the Department of Drug Administration, producing quality drugs in the country and for exporting the products. The meeting was attended by the officials of the ministry, drug manufacturers and importers.

During the meeting, DPM Yadav instructed the concerned authorities to keep in mind while drafting drugs-related regulations that the prices of medicines should be affordable to the public and that the companies should not compromise on the quality of drugs they produce.
