28 Foreign Goods get NS Mark

January 11: The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology has granted Nepal Standard (NS) mark to 28 goods produced by 22 Indian and Chinese industries, according to a news report published by the state-run Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).

Those receiving the NS mark are the OPC and PPC cements produced by Indian companies Aadhunik, Ultratech, Alstrom, India Cement Limited, Jayapirewa Plant, Star Cement, and Calcum Industries of India; LPG cylinders and valves produced by Rajasthan Cylinder Industry, Delhi LPG Valve, Gas Droid, Hari Udhyog, Prabha Electronic, Sarbamangalam Petroleum, Surya Shakti and Baltra Associates, India; as well as Iron bar from BK Steel Limited, Stat Steels and Saloja Steels, India.

Likewise, composite cylinders produced by Supreme Industry and Time Technoplates, India have also been awarded with the NS mark.

The bureau has also given the NS mark to a Chinese regulator company Ningbo Sui Xin.

Director general of the bureau, Bishwa Babu Pudasaini, reportedly said that the number of foreign industries acquiring the Nepal Standard mark has been gradually increasing.

“We have been granting NS mark to the foreign companies applying for it after fulfilling the required process,” RSS quoted him as saying.

Similarly, the bureau has granted license to 369 various types of goods of 60 different products manufactured by 250 industries within and outside the country.
