Pokhara Ultralight Gaining Popularity
The Pokhara Ultralight company has been successful in gaining popularity among national and international tourists. Launched in June earlier this year, the company has been able to provide Ultralight fights to  seven hundred   tourists through three flights a day in Icer-2 Ultralight craft. 
 
Managing director of the company, Pomnarayan Shrestha informed that the company started with a total investment of Rs.5million, and it has been doing well as the demand for adventure sports in Pokhara, a tourist town, has been fulfilled by the service. Ultralight craft, flies above 14000 ft, Shrestha said adding that It can fly for four hours continuously in its highest speed. 
 
Elaborating on the profile of the custoners, he said that domestic as well as international tourists including Chinese, Indian and the European have been showing high interest towards the Ultalight flights. Though July, August and September are regarded as off-season from tourism perspective, the period has proved high for Ultra flights, Shrestha added. 
 
The flight has special discounts and package services for domestic tourist while the standard rates are  70 Euro for 15mins, 125 Euro for 30 mins and 290 Euros for 1 hour, informed flight operator, Pravin Baniya. Though initially only international tourists were interested in Ultralight flights, recently interest from Nepali tourists  is soaring up. However, among all the people who take ultralight flights, 85% are international tourists. 
 
The company has plans to add two more flights to its existing three flights by 2014. Presently it operates  flight services from 6 am to 11 am and from 3 pm to 6 pm from Pokhara airport. 
 
More than 30% of the tourists who come to Pokhara are found to be interested in adventure sports. Apart from the Pokhara Ultralight,  Pokhara Avia Club and Fishtail Ultra Flight Pvt. Ltd. have also been providing Ultralight flight services.
