Pushpendra R BansalMirage Lords Inn, the first foreign member of India's Lords Hotels and Resorts Group, opened its doors for guests in Kathmandu this  April. The Group has been awarded ‘Fastest Growing Hotel Chain’ award for two times in India.  Pushpendra R Bansal, CMD of Lords Inn Hotels and Developers LLC and MD of Lords Inn Hotels and Developers Ltd, was recently in Nepal for the inauguration of this Inn. In an interview with Sujan Tiwari of New Business Age, Bansal talked about the features of the hotel, and prospects the company sees in Nepal. Excerpts:

Tell us about journey of Lords Hotels and Resorts in India and in Nepal.
Lords Hotel and Resorts chain was formed in January of 2008 realizing that the existing international hotel chains in India were not realising and responding to the need of the Indian people. After completing my studies on Hotel Management in the USA, I decided to return home and form an Indian hotel chain with international standard and serve people even in the remotest places. We pride in providing international standard services at affordable prices. We stand true to our tag line: ‘True Valued Hotel.’ We ensure that each of our guests gets the worth for the money paid.

What are the facilities available at Mirage Lord Inn?
It’s a three star hotel with 40 rooms including suites and houses a multi-cuisine authentic vegetarian restaurant named ‘Blue Coriander’. We may open non-vegetarian in the days ahead but presently the Inn serves only authentic vegetarian dishes. We will be serving Indian authentic food along with Mexican, Continental, Chinese and Italian too. We also have a fully loaded bar named ‘Distil’. It will also have a Spa to be named ‘Aleenta’ meaning re-generation in Thai. We have a banquet hall that can serve 300 guests and will be known as ‘Chancellor’ and a 50 person capacity conference hall named ‘Chamber’. Along with good parking space, we have good power backups and will be also having swimming pool in the near future.

How do you plan to face the competition here in Nepal?
We are the most affordable hotel chains in India who have value for their guests’ money. We provide the best amenities at lowest possible price. That’s why we have grown so far. We started with two hotels and now we have grown to 22. We have faced and grown through competition so far and thus find ourselves ready for all types of competition in the days ahead too.

Who will be your target customers for the hotel?
We will be catering to business visitors, middle class, lower middle class, international travellers and pilgrims.

Why did you choose Nepal for starting your international journey?
We first wanted to expand in the neighbourhood and then expand to other countries. We have signed the contract in Uganda too and the hotel building is presently under construction. We have advertised globally, but we were lucky enough to start here. The owner of the property was convinced as we approached and after meeting all the requirements, we started it here.

Do you have plans of further expansion?
Yes, we are in talks for expanding in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We have plans to open a terrace restaurant at Mirage for serving non-vegetarian delicacies.  We have 21 hotels in India and in total 22 including this one. We have plans to increase this number to 29 by the end of 2014.
