Etihad Adds New Amenities on A380 and B787
Etihad Airways has introduced new products and services on its Airbus A380 and Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft. The added features include ‘The Residence by Etihad’, which the airline claims to be the world’s most luxurious living space in the air, available only on the airline’s A380 aircraft.
 
“The Residence will be the breath-taking and completely new forward upper-deck cabin on the A380. Accommodating single or double occupancy, it features a living room, separate double bedroom and en-suite shower room,” says a press statement from the airline. Guests in ‘The Residence’ will also have a personal butler.
 
A380 will also feature revolutionary First Apartments, which are fully private suites with a separate reclining lounge seat and full-length bed, as well as a chilled mini-bar, personal vanity unit and wardrobe. In addition, Etihad has allocated the upper deck of the A380 to its premium cabins. On the B787, the airline has designed an enhanced ‘First Suite’, adding many new features including a chilled mini-bar. The ‘Business Studio’ and ‘Economy Smart Seat’ will feature on both the A380 and the B787. The A380 aircraft will have full mobile and Wi-Fi service while the B787 will be equipped with Wi-Fi.
 
 “These new living spaces will raise in-flight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers’ expectations of in-flight comfort and luxury forever,” said James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer while unveiling the new products. 
 
Oman Air Awarded at World Travel Awards 
Oman Air has won two categories of the World Travel Awards, which were announced in Dubai on 4th May. At a ceremony held in Dubai, Oman Air was named ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline – Business Class’ and ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline – Economy Class’, beating some of the region’s largest and best-known carriers in each category. 
 
 “Winning two categories of the prestigious World Travel Awards is a remarkable achievement for Oman Air, especially when we were pitted against some of the world’s largest airlines,” said Salim Al Kindy, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air. The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Now in their 21st year, the awards are hailed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’, and are acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade. This is the second year running that Oman Air has been named as the ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline – Economy Class’ at the World Travel Awards. 
 
Yeti Supports Social Organizations
Yeti Airlines handed over a cheque of Rs 409,513 each to four social organizations, namely Save the Children, The United Mission to Nepal (UMN), Care Nepal and Habitat For Humanity 19th May. Yeti Airline donates Rs 4 per flight ticket to these four organizations, and the amount was contributed as the airline’s commitment for the period of 1st April 2013 to 31st March 2014. 
 
According to the airline, it has already presented a total financial assistance of Rs 10,679,804 since October 2006 to various social organizations including Tewa, Maiti Nepal, Nepal Leprosy Relief, Nepal Glaucoma Eye Clinic (Tilganga) and Sewa Kendra Leprosy among others as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. With the recent donation, the total amount contributed by the airline has reached Rs 12,317,856.  
  
Turkish Airlines Flies to Boston  
Turkish Airlines has started its flights to Boston, USA, making it the airline’s 9th destination in the Americas and 6th in the USA. The airline has been providing connections to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Washington in the Americas. Boston flights are being operated five times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Istanbul in both directions from 12th May. From 9th June, flights between the two cities will be increased to seven times weekly, with the addition of Tuesday and Thursday flights.
 
China Southern to Start Double Daily Flights to Guangzhou
China Southern Airline is operating double daily flights from Guangzhou-Kathmandu–Guangzhou from 15th July 2014. The new flight timing will be 0830 departure from Guangzhou and arrival at Kathmandu at 1055, and departure from Kathmandu at 1155 and arrival at Guangzhou at 1830. The airline is operating everyday flights to Guangzhou-Kathmandu-Guangzhou with its Airbus 319 .With the new double daily flights, passengers can get connections to Melbourne , Sydney , Brisbane , Auckland, Perth, Amsterdam , Paris , Frankfurt , Los Angles and New York via Guangzhou. Also, from 25th June, China Southern is starting two new international flights to Guangzhou-Frankfurt-Guangzhou and from 6th August, Guangzhou–New York–Guangzhou.
