Nepal Exported Coffee worth Rs 48 million in Last Six Years

April 18: Nepal exported organic coffee worth Rs 4.8 million to different countries in the last six years. Government data shows that 541,630 kg of coffee were sold in the international market between fiscal year 2069/70 to FY 2074/75.

Nepal has been producing 513 metric tons of coffee in an annual basis, according to data provided by National Tea and Coffee Development Board.

“There is high demand of Arabic coffee in the international market,” informed Sheskanta Gautam, president of National Tea and Coffee Development Board.

He further said the demand for Nepali coffee in countries like Korea, Japan, America, Germany, Canada, China, India and Europe, is increasing.

Coffee is produced in more than 40 districts of Nepal including Syangja, Lalitpur, Gulmi, Kavre, Nuwakot, Kaski, Palpa, Sindhupalchok, Lamjung, Baglung, and Illam.

Currenlty, more than 26,000 farmers are engaged in coffee farming.
