Rs 100 Million for Visit Nepal Year 2020

April 18: The government has allocated Rs 100 million for the Visit Nepal Year 2020. A cabinet meeting last Thursday decided to allocate the amount to the main organising committee of the Visit Nepal Year 2020.

The state-sponsored campaign had lost its momentum after the death of Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari in a helicopter crash.

The cabinet meeting also decided to give the authority to the national programme coordinator to spend 10 percent of the budget and additional 15 percent to the programme implementation sub-committee as per the need, according to coordinator Suraj Vaidhya.

“There had been some delays due to procedural hassles. Now the budget and work procedure has got approval and we expect to expedite the preparation for the Visit Nepal Year 2020,” he said.

Member Secretary of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat Deepak Raj Joshi, who is also the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, said that the campaign officially kicked off from Pokhara on the Nepali New Year and they will not carry out other promotional events.
