April 24: Nepal’s first digital wallet eSewa has introduced a new offer named ‘Refer and Earn,’ in which the users can refer the contacts of his/her phone to use the application.

Issuing a press statement, the company said that the users can get up to Rs 30 (per referral) by referring the application to other contacts.

“The offer has been launched in a bid to promote cashless transaction in the country,” the statement reads.

According to Roshan Lamichhane, chief operating officer at eSewa, the offer has been introduced to build a cashless society.

“As the stakeholders are pushing for a cashless society, the offer helps to fulfill the dreams to achieve digital society,” he said.

The users can pay electricity, internet and water bills from eSewa. The users can also purchase air and bus tickets and top-up balance on their mobile phones. Currently, a total of 51 banks and financial institutions are members of eSewa.
