Students in Dolpa Skip Classes

May 15: The number of students appearing for the exams without attending classes at their schools is rising in Dolpa. Schools in the mountain district complain about the worrisome trend of students not attending the classes and showing up only during exams. They have warned that the standard of education is degrading due to this new trend. According to the teachers, the students do not attend classes because they are confident of passing the exams due to the low standard of the question papers.

Most of the students appearing for the grade 11 exams which started on May 13 have hardly attended their classes, according to the local invigilators.

They say that the students just fill the examination forms and shun their classes because they are confident of passing the exams easily.

Many students are found pursuing vocational training in Nepalgunj.

Janaprabha Secondary School has altogether 90 students in grade 11 and 80 in grade 12. But the teachers say that hardly 10 to 20 students attend the classes regularly.
