Janak Raj Sharma Assumes Office as CEO of Sunrise Bank

July 26: Janak Raj Sharma Poudyal has assumed the post of the CEO of Sunrise Bank. Issuing a statement on Friday, the bank said Poudyal has assumed office as the CEO for a four-year term.  He was appointed to the post by the board of directors of the bank on July 12.

Although the board had earlier decided to appoint Niraj Shrestha as the CEO, the appointment was taken back in lack of consensus.  Two of the board members had objected to Shrestha’s appointment following which the board unanimously appointed Poudyal to the vacant post.

Poudyal, who has 30 years of experience in the banking sector, had started his career in this field in 1987 from Nabil Bank. Prior to this, Poudyal was the CEO of Global IME Bank.
