Gautam Buddha Int’l Airport to come into Operation within 4 Months

August 9: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has said that the completion of Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport would contribute to the success of Visit Nepal Year 2020. The minister made such remark while inspecting the under-construction airport on Thursday.

Minister  Bhattarai said that the airport will come into operation within December this year.

“I came here for inspection to find out if there is any obstacle to complete the project within the deadline,” said Bhattarai, adding, “I will try to sort the issues if any.”

Presenting the progress report to the minister, project chief Prabesh Adhikari said that the airport has achieved 74 percent progress in terms of physical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Minister Bhattarai asked the project to expedite the construction work.

“The pace of the project is slow but is heading in the right direction,” said Minister Bhattarai.
