November 21: Women entrepreneurs pointed out to the need of easy access to loan, availability of loan without any collateral and women-friendly administration to develop women entrepreneurship in the country.
Participants of an event organised by the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) on Tuesday shared that women by nature possess qualities like patience, tolerance, proper management and multi-tasking which can be added benefit for running business enterprises.
The women entrepreneurs also stressed the need of increasing subsidized loan from banks to women. They also demanded women-friendly help desks.
FWEAN’s President Sharada Rijal said that if women are given chance to be entrepreneurs and industrialists, the country’s economy can witness drastic improvement in all aspects.
“Women are denied inheritance of ancestral property in this patriarchal society,” said Rijal adding, “Because of such tradition, women aspiring to do businesses face scarcity of capital investment. In such case, if the government increases subsidized loan, it could boost the economy of the country.”
According to Nepal Rastra Bank’s Assistant Director Shikha Adhikari, 1395 women entrepreneurs have already taken subsidized loan so far.
Successful women entrepreneurs exchanged their views and shared their experiences during the event. They also discussed about the need of improving the business ecosystem for encouraging women’s investment in the country.
More than 200 women participated in the event.
