March 25 : A third person was tested positive for COVID-19 in Nepal. According to the state-run Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Information Officer at the Ministry of Health and Population, Ganesh Shreevastav, confirmed the case on Wednesday (March 25).
Shreevastav further said that the person who tested positive on Wednesday has been receiving treatment at an isolation ward of Shukraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Control Hospital, Teku. Firther details about the person is currently not available.
This is the third confirmed case of the deadly COVID-19 in Nepal. Recently, a 19-year-old Nepali student who had returned home from France last week had tested positive for the virus on Sunday. There were concerns that other persons who returned in the same flight to Nepal along with the infected person via Qatar might also have contracted the disease.
Government authorities have said they are trying to trace all the persons on board the plane and test them for coronavirus, which has created widespread havoc across the world.
The first case of coronavirus in Nepal was recorded in January when a Nepali student returning from Wuhan of China, where the virus is believed to have originated, tested positive. He has already recovered and returned home, according to government officials.
According to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, a total of 687 persons have been tested for COVID-19, out of which only three were positive.
