Entrepreneurship Leads to Women Empowerment: Justice Malla

July 5: Supreme Court Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla said that entrepreneurship would lead to women empowerment and independence.

Addressing NEWBIZ Business Women Summit and Awards 2024 in Kathmandu, Justice Malla thanked NBA for initiating the award ceremony. “I am deeply inspired by all women entrepreneurs hounoured today. The winners not only represent themselves but also women across the entire country. They have shown that women can achieve remarkable feats,” she added.

Sharing how Pakistani people were amazed by Nepali women driving the tempos, Malla added that women have held the important positions such as President Chief Justice and other important posts in the country.

Malla recalled her advocacy for women’s empowerment through the women’s ownership into property. “Women now own 37% of the land, with laws and regulations offering discounts on property tax,” she said.

Malla said that despite various women friendly laws they have not come into implementation due to unawareness of the regulations.

Malla, however, said that traditional mindset, feelings of inferiority, and the confinement to domestic roles are still posing challenges to the women. She urged the women to participate in non-stereotypical entrepreneurship. She also stressed that awards would give recognition and validation to their works.
