Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited Donates Rs 10 Million to Eyecare Projects

Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited (SCBNL) has helped various eye care projects by funding Rs 10 million in Nepal. Collaborating with Nepal Eye Programme (Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology) and MITRA Samaj, SCBNL aims to combat avoidable blindness, cataract, and posterior segment eye diseases across all provinces in the country. The bank has granted donation of USD 36,434 (Rs 4,790,866) to Nepal Eye Programme to establish a Community Eye Centre (CEC) in Nichuta, Parsa. This center will offer comprehensive eye care services to the residents of Paterwa Sugauli Rural Municipality – 5 and surrounding areas. 

Similarly, SCBNL has extended a donation of USD 51,379 (Rs 6,725,000) to MITRA Samaj for Cataract Blindness Alleviation Project. This project focuses on identifying cases of avoidable blinding diseases, including cataracts, especially among the hard-to-reach population in priority areas of all provinces. Harsha Pillai, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing at SCBNL, expressed the bank's commitment to making eye care accessible to underserved communities.
