The government has rescheduled the date of the 10th National Games. As per the revised schedule, the National Games will take place in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, from May 17 to 24, 2025.
The 121st board meeting of the National Sports Council (NSC), chaired by Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary, on Thursday rescheduled the event.
Previously, the NSC had scheduled the games for April 5 to 12. This is not the first time that the NSC deferred the national games. The mega event was initially supposed to be held from November 17-24.
In August, government officials and the provincial government authorities marked the 100 days countdown to the 10th National Games, originally set to take place in Karnali Province from November 17-24. However, the NSC has been postponing the event time and again.
Meanwhile, the NSC suspended six national sports associations for participating in the unlawful election of the Nepal Olympic Committee. The suspended associations are the Nepal Badminton Association, Nepal Tennis Association, Nepal Cycling Association, Nepal Athletics Association, Nepal Gymnastics Association, and Nepal Weightlifting Association.
The council also decided to hold the first National Para Games in Kathmandu from May 31 to June 4, 2025.
