The 15th edition of the Chitwan Festival is scheduled from January 9 to 23 along the Narayani Riverbank in Narayangarh, Chitwan.
At a press conference on January 3, Suman Shrestha, coordinator of the main organizing committee and President of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed optimism about the festival’s potential to boost the local economy and promote Chitwan’s natural and cultural heritage.
This year’s festival has been extended to 15 days, five days longer than previous editions. Focused on promoting tourism, the festival will include attractions such as an artificial park, guided tours, homestay experiences, and a documentary exhibition.
For the first time, the event will feature a Chinese pavilion showcasing products from various Chinese enterprises, in coordination with the China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A special employment hub will connect youths with potential employers, while aspiring entrepreneurs will benefit from data collection, training, and skill development programs to encourage self-employment, said Shrestha.
Kalyan Joshi, coordinator of the festival’s finance committee, announced that discounts on food and lodging have been arranged for visitors in collaboration with local tourism businesses.
A national seminar on agriculture, education, health, tourism, IT, and literature is planned for January 13 to 17, with a focus on mustard farming.
The festival, organized in collaboration with Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the District Coordination Committee, will also feature an international product exhibition, including seven special stalls in the Chinese pavilion, alongside 430 stalls representing agriculture, automobiles, construction, and dining.
A food festival highlighting traditional Nepali cuisine will take place at Campachaur in Narayangarh from January 13 to 20.
Additional attractions include sports events, rafting, health services, cultural performances, daily shows by national artists, and a children’s park.
Organizers expect the festival to attract 500,000 visitors and generate transactions exceeding Rs 300 million.
