Adverse weather conditions obstructed regular flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Sunday (September 1).
Both domestic and international flights from the airport were affected due to poor visibility amid continuous rainfall from early morning, the TIA Office informed.
While an Air China flight had to be diverted, some international flights were delayed, Jagannath Niraula, general manager at TIA, told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti, the state-owned news agency.
While Pokhara, Bharatpur and Simara airports remained closed for the first half of the day, domestic flights to other airports were conducted only under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), according to TIA.
No flight was conducted on the day from Kathmandu to Pokhara, while only two flights were conducted from Pokhara to Kathmandu until the evening.
The regional flights to Bharatpur and Nepalgunj were also affected due to the weather, informed Dipendra Kumar Karna, information officer at Buddha Air.
