At least 87 people died and 72 have gone missing by 8:30 pm on Saturday, September 28, across the country due to floods, landslides and inundation triggered by incessant rains in the past three days.

Central Spokesperson of Armed Police Force DIG Kumar Neupane confirmed the death of 87 people and informed the National Security Agency that 72 individuals have gone missing, reported RSS, the state-owned news agency. At least 36 others have been injured in the disasters, said RSS, citing Neupane.

Of the total, 48 people died in Kathmandu Valley – 25 in Kathmandu, 18 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur districts. 

At least 29 were killed in the other districts of Bagmati Province and 10 died in Koshi Province. After Kathmandu, Kavre reported the highest death toll of 14.

Similarly, 39 people have gone missing in Bagmati Province besides 21 in the Kathmandu Valley.  At least nine individuals are missing in Koshi, two in Lumbini, and one in Madhesh provinces.

Of the total, 26 have gone missing in Kavre, the highest number after the Valley. 

According to the police, 853 people have been rescued in Koshi, 56 in Madhesh and 494 in Bagmati provinces, besides 1,457 in the valley.
