The establishment of a waste processing center in Bardibas, Mahottari, has brought significant relief to local residents by addressing pollution and waste management challenges.
The center, located in Bardibas Municipality-8, began operations on December 20, 2024, according to the state-owned news agency RSS.
Previously, unregulated waste disposal had been a major source of pollution, heightening the risk of disease outbreaks.
Equipped with advanced Japanese technology, the center was developed in collaboration with HITA Heavy Machinery and Recycle Pvt. Ltd. The municipality has signed a 20-year contract worth Rs 12 million with the company, while it provided the necessary infrastructure, Mayor Pralhad Kumar Kshetri told RSS.
The center charges Rs 50 per household and up to Rs 3,000 per month for hotels and restaurants, depending on the volume of waste, said Surendra Sah, the center's manager.
Currently, the facility processes and incinerates six tonnes of waste daily.
